WELCOME TO SOUTHERN WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY Central, South Carolina

LODGING

All World Series athletes, coaches and managers will be residents of Stuart-Bennett Hall or Childs Hall. (See the enclosed village map). Each team, its coaches and managers will, when possible, be assigned rooms on the same floor, some teams will need to be split due to the room configuration. Each room is double-occupancy. All rooms are air-conditioned. A television lounge is located in each building.

An Information Desk in Stuart-Bennett Hall will be staffed during peak hours each day, usually 8:00 AM to midnight. A similar desk may be staffed in Child's Hall in the evenings. Any request, need or concern may be brought to the attention of the staff at the desk on the main-floor lobby. A representative of the Tournament Committee will be in the residence hall in the evenings. The specially-designated World Series telephone number is 864-644-6000.

The coach will be given a telephone, and he can call out with a phone card and receive calls directly. Umpires and umpire families and several volunteers will enjoy the amenities in the apartment buildings (see village map). Each apartment has four private sleeping rooms with a lavatory, two bathrooms, a living room, laundry facilities and kitchenette. Telephone, computer and television portals are provided. Whether in Stuart-Bennett, Childs Hall or the apartments, each resident will be provided bed linens, a pillow and towels and wash cloths. There will be a time each morning for linen exchange in the Stuart-Bennett lobby. You are responsible to make exchanges when they are needed. New linens will not be issued, only exchanged. Please bring your personal soap and shaving utensils.

VILLAGE SECURITY
The World Series Tournament Committee and the Southern Wesleyan University Series Task Force expect Village residents to abide by all posted rules and regulations and otherwise protect the rights and property of all. A damage deposit of Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) is required of each team, all of which is refundable IF there is no damage assessed at the time of check-out, and all keys have been returned.

The World Series Village is located on the campus of Southern Wesleyan University in Central, South Carolina. Central's Chief of Police heads a Task Force of law-enforcement officers who are responsible for Village security. A uniformed policeman and a volunteer constable will be on duty in the residence hall.

Residents may report a concern and/or incident to the staff member at the Information Desk, or directly to the uniformed officer stationed in the lobby area of Stuart-Bennett Hall.

The residence hall end doors will be locked at midnight. The front door will remain open and guarded by the security personnel on duty in the lobby. Village Residents are expected to be in the residence hall or the gymnasium after dark, and not running around the campus.

COUNSELING SERVICES
In the event that there is a crisis with the participants and/or families, we have arranged for professional counselors to assist them. In the event of an immediate crisis, the Information Desk has the phone number for making an appointment at any time.

University Chaplain Ken Dill will be available throughout the series should village residents and their families need the services of counseling.

After 6:00 pm, one of the staff members in the Counseling Center will be available if needed either by phone or in person. The staff member at the Information Desk will have the number available.

VILLAGE RULES AND REGULATIONS
Southern Wesleyan University is honored to welcome such accomplished coaches, athletes and distinguished volunteers from around the world. University and community volunteers will do everything in their power to render your stay in the Upstate of South Carolina comfortable and enjoyable. However, we expect our guests to reciprocate by honoring the following World Series Village regulations:

1. Southern Wesleyan University is an alcohol, drug and tobacco-free environment. Your adherence to this absolute prohibition is expected. Reported violations will be dealt with swiftly by the World Series Tournament Committee with those found guilty being expelled from the Village. This is intended for all players, coaches, managers, umpires and guests.

2. Damage to private and/or University property will not be tolerated. The team whose member(s) are thought to be responsible for such, automatically forfeits the refunding of the Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) security deposit. Violations should be brought to the attention of World Series or University officials. This refers to all furniture in the rooms, windows and screens, computers, and equipment around campus, including the game room and basketball court in the gym.

3. It is required that coaches and managers reside in Stuart-Bennett Hall or Childs Hall with their respective team. And whereas the University will have security officers on duty 24-hours a day, the coaches and managers are responsible for the health, safety, welfare and behavior of their athletes. A team's coaches and manager will be held directly and totally responsible for the actions of their team during their stay in the University Village.

4. The World Series Tournament Committee and University officials expect umpires and their families, as well as other adult guests residing in the apartments, to honor the fact that the University is an alcohol, tobacco and drug-free environment. Violators will be asked to move off-campus.

5. Whereas local telephone service is free, World Series Village residents are not to assess long-distance charges to the University. Any such charges are the responsibility of the team and will be billed as such with a penalty of $5.00 per minute.

6. Respect for Clemson Area Transit (CAT) Buses, borrowed vans and other vehicles that may be used by World Series participants is expected. The cost of proven damage will be assessed against the responsible team's deposit. Only authorized team representatives or Big League personnel are permitted to drive the vans.

7. Only approved World Series personnel are extended meal privileges in the Dining Commons. All others must purchase a meal ticket before eating. Village Residents are required to show their Identification Badge in order to receive their meal.

8. Professional and or/college scouts are not permitted to speak with Village athletes without permission of the Big League World Series Tournament Committee. Those with permission may use University meeting space to meet with an athlete and his coach or manager. The assistant at the Information Desk can make the arrangements.

9. Monitored surveillance cameras will insure the security of those in Stuart-Bennett Hall. No one without proper identification is permitted access at any time other than in the lobby. Guest females are not permitted in the elevator or on any of the floors outside of the lobby.

10. A meeting will be held several mornings for all coaches, managers and university and World Series personnel. The time and place for the meeting will be announced. It is expected that each team will be represented to discuss mutual topics of concern for each day.
